not only is hockey back; but detroit is leading the western conference with only one loss. so, for the three or four people watching hockey still, it is great!

the company i work for took us all on a retreat up north. i admit i was a little nervous about spending 2 full days (7a.m. – 11 p.m.) in activity with work people; but it was one of the coolest company meetings i’ve ever been too. part of our activity was a ropes course. and the activities that were more process etc. were even fun. feelin really lucky right now. and a little cheesy too.
my friend introduced me to this great cuban restaurant in royal oak. its called cafe habana. awesome service (e.g. put up with my high maintenance breakfast partner).
i got an omelet with goat cheese and fresh slices of avocado. yum! i also loved the limeade but according to my friend from brazil, it has vanilla in it and is just not the same. i guess i will have to go to brazil to taste the real limeade. what a shame

well, we lost Datsyuk but at least we got Zetterberg! can’t wait to watch hockey again.
its been a great labor day week-end. did all the things i think you’re supposed to do on labor day…bbq, go shopping (for a grill), drank lemonade and of course, went to go the franklin parade.
here is a picture of me volunteering for their fire department. or, just taking a picture with one of the uniforms on. one day. for now, baby steps. besides, the uniform didn’t really fit me anyway.

i just read an article about how this woman was forced to leave her 10 year old child behind as she and her other 4 babies were evacuated from new orleans. the good news is that they were reunited three days later, but what an incredible story. how scared she must have been.
i donated some money through redcross/amazon. i actually got there through google.
so, does it seem like b*sh isn’t doing anything about this currently? i mean has he even addressed the nation yet?
my heart goes out to the cities and people affected by katrina.
i am scared to get excited. “Wings Bring Back Schneider” is the headline from aug 4th’s freep.com. i can’t wait until october oct. 5th.
but who’s our goalie?
i wonder if the makers of etch-a-sketch knew that it could do this. and imagine the patience this guy must have!
nothing like detroit’s eastern market on a 95 degree summer saturday.
